Hello everybody and Happy Saturday!

As you may have guessed, today is my 24th birthday. I can’t believe I’m almost in my mid-20s and how fast the years have gone by. There is so much I learned over the years but because I’m young, I still have a lot of learning and growing to do as a person, but I can’t wait to see the woman I become years to come.

Since today marks the 24th anniversary of my birth, I thought I’d celebrate with you guys and write a 24 Q&A. On my Instagram story, I had you guys send some questions you wanted me to answer, so without further ado, here is a 24 Q&A from the birthday girl! 🎈

  1. What’s your favorite Italian dish?

-Gnocchi Palomino! They’re little pasta dumplings with potato or ricotta cheese stuffed inside, and you can eat them with pesto, red sauce, meat sauce, or my favorite, palomino sauce (a really creamy red sauce)!

  2. What do you want for your birthday?

-I would like to get a pair of APL’s for my special day.

  3. What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?

-Watching classic Christmas movies such as Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, A Year Without a Santa Claus, and The Little Drummer Boy with my family. 🎅🏻

  4. How are you going to celebrate your birthday, and the holidays given the circumstances?

-I am going to keep things COVID friendly and spend time with my immediate family. A huge lesson 2020 taught me is to never take your loved ones for granted, so I’m excited to spend some quality with them and not do anything too crazy.

  5. Who’s your favorite cousin (nice one Bella 🤣)

-I have no favorites because I love all my cousins all the same.

  6. How are you so perfect?

-Thank you so much for the compliment, but I have to put this out there: I am not perfect, I am no where near perfect, and I WILL NEVER be perfect. No one is perfect and that’s totally okay, because striving for perfectionism is completely unrealistic and unachievable. Society constantly changes its criteria of what a perfect person should look like, so it would be impossible to keep up. Also, if we were all “perfect,” the world would be absolutely boring. If there’s one similarity we should all have is being good people with good hearts, but if we lived in a world where no one had any flaws, and things about themselves that make them look and be different, there wouldn't be any true beauty in the world. To the person who asked this question, and to everyone else who feels they have to live up to expectations in order to be “perfect,” remember these two equations: perfection = imperfection and imperfection=perfection.

  7. What are your plans for next year?

-My plans for next year a little unknown. However, I do know that I will be moving into my family’s new home, continue blogging, and attending my cousin’s wedding in August (congrats again Nino and Kristin! 🍾)

  8. What’s the status with your house?

-Due to the minor issues that have come about in our new house, we are looking to moving in somewhere in January 2021. So close but so far away!

  9. What are your New Year’s Resolutions?

-My New Year’s Resolutions for 2021 are to journal every day (because I want to be able to reflect on my good days and writing them down helps me remember), practice daily gratitude, take my fitness goals to the next level and build muscle, find a church to attend, and to become less fearful, get out of my comfort zone, and live my life to the fullest without fear or worry dragging me down.

  10. What has 2020 taught you?

-2020 has taught me A LOT. I am going to post an episode of LexTalk at the end of the month that goes deep into this question, but I will give you two big ones: 1. never take your loved ones for granted and 2. never take life for granted.

  11. What’s your love life like right now? What do you look for in a guy?

-Right now I am currently single. Due to the circumstances, dating and meeting people isn’t easy at the moment, but I have faith that God will lead me to the perfect man that I can call the love of my life. What I look for in a guy you may ask? I’m not looking for much, but if he has these qualities, he has me 😉: a kind heart, great sense of humor, work ethic that is on par, and a love for family, friends, people, having fun and making memories, and God.

  12. What does your workout routine look like?

-My workout regime has been changing over the course of the year, but right now, I do full-body workouts three days a week, and Lauren Giraldo’s “12-3-30” treadmill workout in between and on top of those three days.

  13. Three words that describe you as a person?

    -Kind, reserved, and easy-going.

  14. What are your passions/hobbies?

-Writing, reading, exercising, and trying out new coffee recipes.

  15. Where do you see yourself in five years?

-I see myself running my own business (which I will explain in blog posts to come), and either being engaged or married.

  16. How did you develop your passion to write?

-Honestly, it came naturally. Ever since elementary school, I’ve always loved to write because it gave me the chance to use my imagination, and grow my creative thinking skills every day. I remember writing a paper in third grade about my dream home and I loved every second of it.

  17. What’s something you hope to accomplish in the new year?

-What I hope to accomplish in the new year is to get out of my comfort zone.

  18. What excites about the new year?

-What excites me about the new year is applying what I learned in 2020 to what I hope to accomplish in 2021.

  19. What’s your go-to coffee?

-Almond milk latte or cold brew with almond milk and a pump of any flavored syrup of my choice.

  20. What are some struggles you face?

-I don’t want to get into too much about my struggles, but I will say that a big one I face is trying to combat my anxiety. I know I am not the only one who struggles with this issue, but my anxiety has really taken a toll on me these past two years. However, because of the love and support I get from my friends, family, and faith, I know I’ll be okay.

  21. What made you want to study The Word?

-What made me want to study The Word was me needing someone, and something to rely on for true love, happiness, and hope. I always believed In God, and even though I went to catechism and attended church, I still didn't know much about God or the Bible. When the pandemic hit in spring and turned everyone’s life upside down, I didn't know who to turn to to save from my loss of hope and anxiety. Before I started reading the Bible, I always had the idea in the back of my head thanks to the inspiration I got from Christian influencers I follow, but what had me seal the deal on reading the word was when I had a mental breakdown in the middle of quarantine. I remember that day like it was yesterday. While I wad feeling completely overwhelmed with feelings of sadness, fear, and hopelessness, I suddenly remembered Psalm 56:3-4, which states “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” After I remembered that verse, I felt a wave of peace that I have never experienced before and since then, I’ve been reading The Word. Not only do I want to find joy, happiness, love, and hope in life, but I want to be closer to The Father.

  22. If you can relive a time period in your life what would it be?

-JUNIOR YEAR OF COLLEGE HANDS DOWN! The 2017-2018 school year was the best year of my entire life. I joined the student newspaper, made new friends, and gained more confidence. If I could go back and relive that entire year, I would!

  23. What are your tips on staying positive?

-For anyone who struggles with trying to be positive, look at the bigger picture (aka: remembering that nothing is forever), remember who you are and all the qualities you have and give to the world, count your blessings, replace your what-ifs with positive outcomes, and practice “I” statements (EX: I am pretty, I am going to get the job, etc.).

  24. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

-Don’t be afraid to try new things and branch out.

…..And that is my 24 Q&A! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today to learn more about me, and help me celebrate my 24th birthday. I hope everyone has a great weekend and stays happy and safe.

-Love, Lexa
